Lifetime Achievement 2005
In 2005 Tommy Hunter proudly received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Canadian Gospel Music Association. He is pictured here receiving the commemorative plaque from Martin Smith.

Tommy Hunter
Just like the closing of the televsion show, you can feel the emotion in the room as Tommy sits on his stool, takes his big black book, and as the band softly plays, recites the legendary “No Charge”. And among the mothers there isn’t a dry eye in the house as Tommy finishes with…. “And so you see son, when you add it all up… the cost of my love is No Charge”.

Academy Theatre 2011
Tommy was honoured by the Academy Theatre in Lindsay Ontario on March 25, 2011 when the Theatre’s stage was officially named “The Tommy Hunter Stage”. Tommy is credited for helping to save the iconic building when it was slated for demolition back in the 1960’s, and has performed there many times since then. After the announcement he accepted the sold-out audience’s applause while Theatre manager Marion Puffer looks on.

Tommy Hunter paid a surprize visit to a good friend this week when he dropped in on Rita MacNeil, who is in the middle of a three week performance run at the Walters Family Dinner Theatre at Bright Ontario.

Tommy always enjoys his return visits to The Academy Theatre in Lindsay Ontario as it was here that his “Country Holiday” radio show was recorded live every week for 4 consecutive summers in the 1960’s and broadcast live over CBC Radio all across Canada.
